Our Placement Specialists accompany seniors and their families to local senior communities like Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Residential Care homes.
INDEPENDENT LIVING
COMMUNITIES
Independent living communities (also called “IL”) usually have additional services such as:

Meal plans (1-3 per day)
-
Housekeeping
-
Multiple daily activities
-
Usually free transportation
-
Encourage socialization with dining rooms for meals, social events, outings, public gathering places, and exercise areas
-
Kitchenettes and/or full kitchens are often in these communities
MEMORY CARE COMMUNITIES
Memory care communities are licensed by the State of California.

Run just like assisted living communities with the additional assistance for people with diagnosed dementia
-
Are all secured communities for the security of the resident
-
Some are only for residents with dementia and have a single focus on the different levels of dementia for social, dining and activities and cognitive wellness
-
All staff members in these are trained to assist people with various levels of dementia
-
Other communities that have both Assisted living areas and then a secured area for memory care
-
Separate dining, activities, outings, and events for the memory care residents to help promote safety, wellness, and more cognitive stimulation than the assisted living areas
-
Have some activities and events where both areas of the community can get together with the assistance of a caregiver
ASSISTED LIVING
COMMUNITIES
Assisted living communities (also called “AL”) are licensed by the State of California.
They have:

3 healthy meals per day
-
Laundry
-
Housekeeping
-
Daily activities to stimulate your body and mind

Multiple outings
-
Medication management
-
Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s)

Most will also have free transportation
-
You must have a medical form filled by your physician and a full assessment to determine the level of care you will need.
RESIDENTIAL CARE HOMES
A Residential Care home is typically a single-story home that has been converted to a senior care home and is licensed by the State of California.

Most homes care for up to six seniors, yet, can be smaller or a bit larger.

Provide personal care as the larger Assisted living communities

Typically there is less social interaction
-
Either a private or shared room and bathroom
-
Generally have some common areas for socializing, including a dining room, living room, outside patio, walkways
-
Some have activities and transportation
-
You must have a medical form filled by your physician and a full assessment to determine the level of care you will need
NURSING HOMES |
SKILLED NURSING
Nursing home facilities (skilled nursing, “SNF”) are licensed by the State of California.

Provide 24-hour licensed nursing care
-
Provide room and board
-
Most have professional rehabilitation services
-
Can either be short rehab stays or ones that are long term
-
Care for all levels of medical care
